The first time Nash took his new show out of Toronto was to NaDean's, back in April of this year. We had a great time enjoying the spring weather and chasing sticks down the Grand River. When I'm away from home, Nash tries to get me to some water. What can I say? I'm part Lab, I live near The Lake, and I never get tired of fetching stuff. Just like at home, I'm out enjoying the wilderness, I take a dump wherever I please, and Nash doesn't even have to watch.

The gig must have been fun for my boss as well because he couldn't wait to play here again. He says there's a simplicity and intimacy to this cafe that gets reflected in the performance. When he starts talking like that I just lie on the bed downstairs and watch TV. This place is like visiting your favorite in-laws for the weekend. This place is tiny as gigs go, but it has a huge heart and that makes my boss very content.

NaDean, our hostess for the weekend, is a superb chef and that's good news for you-know-who. Jeanette, who works at NaDean's, has a big house with a big yard and we get to stay at her place for the weekend. I just love the leaves in the yard but where the hell did my ball go?

Nash also likes the art on the walls at NaDean's. This time there were some fossil-like metal sculptures that had been created by local artist Steven Post. The boss really liked one of the pieces, and his pals Doug and Cathy really liked another, By the end of the evening, Doug and Cathy, in their usual magnanimous way, had purchased both pieces, and gave Nash the one he admired. If they could have, I'm sure Doug and Cathy would have bought the entire collection.

The show was attended by a small but appreciative audience that were treated to a presentation of Bombardiers plus Un Chien Andalou and other weird and wacky Nash sights and sounds. Each night was a different combination of sets. End of the Millennium is still the number one audience favorite of new material. Even in the dressing room, sound asleep, when I hear Millennium my paw starts tappin' to that one.

Nash says the next time we come back, we're going to make it a "film and dinner" night and make it even more special than this time. With NaDean's gourmet food, and Nash's presentation of a full silent film like The Lost World, it will be a gala event in a tiny cafe. Look out Cambridge, I can't wait to hit the river!
