Club Abstract
Kitchener, Ontario
Sunday, November 8, 1998

Sunday is gig day and Nash is up and eager to get going. The club is just 10 minutes away, so things get set up in the afternoon and it's all ready to go by 5 pm, The show isn't until 10, so we return to Bert and Esti's for another fine meal and human warmth and contact.

Club Abstract is a medium-size dance club, with two separate areas to socialize or dance in. Nash sets up at one end of the dance room, in an area that is 25 feet wide and 15 feet deep. There is a bar in this space with a very large video screen above it. Nash coves the bar in white cloth and it becomes part of the stage.

There is so much room that the slide projectors can be placed strategically without interfering with each other. The in-house video projector is crystal clear. The sound system is a 4-speaker set-up in the ceiling that matches Nash's cabinet on stage.

The sound is amazing. The best looking and sounding Nash gig outside of Stratengers in Toronto.

The house sound man Jeff was on the ball considering this club doesn't have live entertainment. Any technical difficulties were quickly sorted out.

I hung out upstairs the whole night, while Nash had a great time on stage. The crowd was less than expected, but very enthusiastic. The word will get around what a killer show the rest of KW missed.

This wasn't mellow Nash. As has been the design all along, there are many ways the show is presented. At Leyanders, Nash's stage speaker cabinet was set at a volume of 25%, and it filled the room. At Club Abstract, it was at 50%, and it balanced with the P.A. just right.

This was an evening of Nash Thrash. Two sets of music and visual guaranteed to blow you away. Do Garbage use a grinder?

Mike the owner was very impressed and we'll definitely be back. A note to Bert. Watch out for the dump in the leaf pile.
