An Awful Evening with Cadillac Bill
special guests include:

  • Nash the Slash
  • Lynn Bee-Bee
  • Transylvania 500

We now have a routine when we go and visit Hamilton.

Before we even get to the gig, Nash, Alex and I go down to the waterfront park and enjoy a good walk. This time it's beautiful fall weather and I re-experience my previous encounter with waterfowl.

Once a dog has been swimming with swans it's like dancing with wolves: totally pointless. These white feathered monsters want to attack me and I just want my stick.

Nash knows this yin and yang is going on and he is amused testing both me and the swans.

They get dangerously close and I let out a growl with the stick clenched firmly in my mouth. Nash tells me never to bark with my mouth full.

It's not rude he says, it just sounds like gargling.

We head out to The Big Bang, a former TV studio that has been turned into a very unique performance space. It is now run by Mike who has a lot of good ideas to make this space work. Cadillac Bill is a separate promotion, but the enthusiasm to make the space a creative environment is very evident.

There is a lot of talent in Hamilton, and tonight's line-up is a show that Nash himself would have been proud to have put on.

Lynn Bee-Bee is a talented singer/ performer. She does a kind of Rockin' Trash Cabaret that would amuse John Waters. The creative and original performance is enhanced by a first-rate collection of musicians. Lynn is one great singer.

There will be more collaborations with Nash and Lynn in the near future.

Transylvania 500 consists of Count Suckula on cheezy organ and Wolfboy on drums. Wolfboy wears a rubber Wolfman mask as he kicks out a mean beat on his drum kit.

Between hilarious comedy banter from Count Suckula and Wolfboy calling the audience a bunch of frickin' weirdos, they play a form of manic instrumental surf-horror music that is very catchy.

Nash does his set next and it's very well received.

By End of the Millennium, they were all up and dancing!

Cadillac Bill and his band came on last and ended the evening with some rousing tunes. They have a kind of rockabillypunk sound that left the audience totally satisfied. There was a smile on everyone's faces.

I hung out in the dressing room all night and got to meet many new friends. Lynn, Cynthia, Rob, Paul, Mike, Bill et al made the event a great success. I have no sordid stories this time about weirdos at the gig.

Hamilton isn't always like The Corktown, but it is full of piss and vinegar and it's a fun place to be.

We can't wait to come back.
