This is a new club that has opened in the heart of downtown Toronto. "Walkin' in downtown in my town ain't my idea of fun no more. . ." Truer words were never spoken. Have you ever tried to find a patch of grass in the city centre where a dog can take a dump? I've never been in the downtown core before, and I can see why. It isn't dog-friendly at all. You humans have some weird people living right on the streets. When dogs start acting like that, you shoot us. Maybe we canines can have a doggie downtown, where all the weird and demented pooches can go. For amusement, once a week you can throw a cat or squirrel into the compound and see what happens. Third Floor at Reilly's is just that. It's a long walk up, but when we finally reach the top floor, it's a beautiful club. Reilly's is a large, open, loft-like room, with a very high ceiling, good stage, and an excellent sound system. The two promoters, Jeff and Gary, have been working their butts off trying to hype their new club to the media. They hope they can create a live music haven for those patrons who love a variety of good music but hate the Queen Street scene. It's a challenge to get a new club off the ground in Toronto but Nash feels he can be part of a growing venture. Reilly's has great potential. As Nash and Alex set up the stage, Cut-Throat Cathie prepares the merchandise table. There are some new items for sale including a new t-shirt design and a bandana with gasmask logos on it. Check out the Buy Stuff section. The house sound tech Chris is on the ball and very helpful in getting a good sound for tonight's presentation. Everything is ready for an exciting evening of performance art.
At first, the audience doesn't know what to make of him, but no one leaves and Corpusse gets resounding applause at the end of his set.
Die-hard fans such as Ordinance Bob, Chris, James, and the Gang From Rochester are all in attendance as well as techies John and Mark who are into projection designs. A very interesting audience. It would be nice if Nash can establish a following at two of Toronto's finest venues, The Bloor Cinema and now Third Floor at Reilly's. The silent movies at one, and the Thrash show at the other. I hope Toronto is ready for the coming assault. Digger |
