Nashferatu rises up from the Thames!

On a wet afternoon unfit for a sé:ance, we once again make our way to that mighty fortress of knowledge, UWO!

This time we are joined on our journey by Skot Deeming, a cinematographer who will capture every nuance of a gig with Nash. I hope he brought his own garlic.

I like going to Western U. It has a nice lawn, plenty of wildlife to chase (the racoons are especially sluggish this time of year) and a nice bunch of people to hang out with.

We come here so often I m working on my BA in Canine Security. I changed my master from Canine Linguistics because I couldn't understand Shi-it-Soos. See what I mean.

I usually stay in the van until the end of the evening, but I get let out every so often to keep the critters away from the dressing room. That s what my real gig is, protecting the dressing room, but here at Western, the dressing room is a small office and there's no one being remotely rowdy. How dull. When you're in the security biz, you want a chance to sink your teeth into something!

As I scan the campus rooftops for potential snipers, Nash, Skot and Alex unload the van while Cathie takes care of setting up the merchandise.

We arrive very late and the set-up is hasty but efficient. Usually our pal Bruce Fife is in charge, but he's away on holidays so Eilene and Rick are on hand to take care any problems.

The Grad Club has become a fixture in the Nash gig book because the room has a great ambiance and a wonderful staff.

U.W.O. has a large film studies program and the film students have been eagerly awaiting the return visit of Nosferatu. They won t be disappointed.

The regulars are all here including Gary and the gang at the side table, always close to the bar but still able to see the stage.

The presentation of Nosferatu is well received by the large crowd, and later Nash performs a second set of all-instrumental music.

At the end of the evening, Nash sits with the locals and signs autographs. The new CD Lost In Space gets a lot of attention as does the soundtrack for Nosferatu. Our friend Matt Gilbo arrives, and Nash trades him a Lost In Space CD for the Blue Man Group.

There are many new faces here tonight, and Nash enjoys talking to all of them. I'd like to meet them too some day but out at the van I ve had a security breach with an assailant in a black coat with a white stripe down the back (probably a gang thing).

Recognising the potential chemical attack, I chased off the intruder and crawled back into the van to wait for the long ride home.

I'm proud to say I made Western a safer campus for everyone. Special thanks to Jay, Mark, Keith, and everyone who helped to make this another great gig at The Grad Club.
