Nash performed at the grand opening of this club a year ago. One would think that a first year anniversary show would be well promoted but it seems that the people in charge have no idea how to promote their club.

The only shows that have done well in this club are presented by outside promoters or the bands have been part of the local Ryerson College scene and therefore needed no help to get a crowd.

It was also thought that the other groups on tonight's bill would bring in their own crowd.

As it was, the show was a disaster.

Why does Nash do so well outside of Toronto? It's because there is less competition and a well-informed audience.

In Toronto a promoter has to rise above the competition for entertainment dollars and the only way to do that is to get the name of your club on the map. Don't expect the artists to do it for you. It is not worth the energy to try and make an exciting tale of this evening's performance.

Nash started his set with the short silent film Un Chien Andalou and then performed a collection of material from Thrash and Normal. It was a journeyman's set to an audience of 30 people in a club that holds 300.

For those who were in attendance, we hope you enjoyed the encore of Baba O'Riley and thanks for the support.

I stayed home with my doggie pals Maggie and Marley and probably had more fun playing on the sofa than Nash had playing on stage.

If there is an exciting live venue to play in Toronto, Nash hasn't found it yet. If you or your dog know of any good performance rooms in your neighbourhood, please let us know.
