Wavelength is a Sunday night regular live event presented and promoted by the gang at CIUT, University of Toronto's radio station. The Wavelength radio show features music by an eclectic assortment of electronic and experimental bands from the past and present. Tonight, Nash will be supported by The Battleship Ethel, a four-piece outfit from Hamilton. They opened for Nash at The Raven in Hamilton a while back and Nash is glad to have them along for this gig. The reason for doing this gig is to give Nash more exposure to the younger electronic music fans. Derek the promoter, has been playing Nash on his radio show for some time now and there are high hopes for a decent audience. Although the pay-what-you-can admission appeals to the numerous poverty-stricken college students who live in the area, it's a hard way for Nash to make a decent buck as well as pay the opening act. As it turns out, the weather was cold and only a handful of Nash die-hards showed up to the gig. No new fans, no young minds altered in any way. This gig and the next one were meant to be a way of creating exposure to new audiences by working with other artists and promoters. Too bad no one has an audience to play to. Digger |
