Digger the Dog
Digger's Diary
The Ho Ho Horrorshow
with DJ Lazarus
and Sex Without Souls
The Reverb Room

Toronto, Ontario
December 12, 2002

This gig is being promoted primarily by the singer of Sex Without Souls. He's a well-meaning nice guy who is trying to pull off a major concert presentation. The stage is designed like a horror castle with ramps and platforms going off to each side. There's a trapeze hanging from the ceiling above the centre stage ramp. There are smoke machines and lasers and ghoulie go-go girls plus the pre-requisite inflatable Santa and Frosty the Snowman. With all his concert prep, the promoter forgot one thing; marketing.

Nash had expected DJ Lazarus to bring a crowd but that didn't happen, and Sex Without Souls are too new to have a large following let alone get good press announcing the event. They probably never even sent out a press release.

Nash is given the choice to go on first or last. He decides to go on first. There isn't much of a crowd and the short set is marred by technical difficulties. Nash is glad to be off the stage. He joins his friends from Rue Morgue to watch the rest of the show as the audience trickles out the door in a state of catatonic apathy.

The whole event was a lot of pomp and no circumstance. In future, Nash will choose his collaborations more carefully.
