Nosferatu
The Art Gallery of Hamilton
Hamilton, Ontario
January 31, 2004

I could have gone to this gig tonight, but the Westminster Dog Show was on TV and I had the night booked off. Nash shouldn't need my help guarding the dressing room at this gig, so he can tell me all about it later.

Tonight's performance has been a long time coming. There is anticipation throughout Hamilton as Nash once again attempts to invade the City of Steel.

Last February, Nash was meant to perform 'Nosferatu' at The Art Gallery of Hamilton but it was postponed due to blizzard conditions. Then the gig was re-booked in August and wouldn't you know there was a major blackout throughout the entire province and once again the gig was off.

By this time, the AGH began to renovate, so the original venue was no longer available. Undaunted, both the AGH and Nash swore they would make this gig happen.

Along comes the Staircase Theatre, a wonderful performance space that more than suits Nash's needs.

With the AGH as promoter, the 67 seats at The Staircase are quickly sold out in advance.

The intimacy of such a small theatre puts the audience and Nash at close proximity, but the sheer size and drama of the film make it a totally unique experience.

The film is just an hour long, so as the stage is being packed away, Nash and friends relax in the Staircase café. Nash chats and signs autographs before he makes his way back to Toronto.

This was the first presentation of 'Nosferatu' in many months and it still has its charm. Tonight's audience was a new group of faces and they thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thanks to Rob, stage manager of The Staircase for all his expert help, as well as Katja and Jennifer from the Art Gallery of Hamilton for their enthusiastic participation.

It will be great to work with these people again soon.

The next show in Hamilton will be a rock show at The Corktown on March 5th.

I'll be there for sure 'cause you never know what can happen at The Corktown.
