Tonight's performance of 'View From the Gallery' is the first presentation of this show since last month's gala at the St. Lawrence Hall in Toronto. This 'movie version' of paintings and music is a spellbinding experience. The paintings are surreal, the music is hypnotic, and the visual editing combines the two art-forms in a way that has never been seen or heard before. The Registry Theatre is a gig that Nash looks forward to. There are always a lot of old friends at these shows and there is a very relaxed atmosphere. The show starts early and therefore there's plenty of time after the performance for Nash to chat with the fans and sign autographs. For tonight's show, Nash has the assistance of Derek, Mike, and Mike's dog Sandy. Mike and Sandy have moved into the house with Nash and Sandy has my blessing to sprawl in my space anytime. After Sandy is briefed on dressing-room security, everybody else gets to work on the stage set-up. When all is prepared, the gang go out for dinner and return to a crowd of eager patrons waiting for the show to begin. Nash performs a set of 'View From the Gallery'. The ethereal effect of the paintings and music has the audience in a trance-like state throughout. After a short break to adjust the stage gear, Nash does a bonus set of six songs that brings the evening's performance to a dramatic end. It's always great to see familiar faces and have so many friends give their condolences about my passing over. To bring truth to the point that I'm still here at these gigs, Nash's friend Therese brought photos of Nash and me when we were goofing around at Bert and Esti's house. We had a lot of good times together in Kitchener/Waterloo. Nash was glad to see Therese, Bert and Esti, David, Michael and everyone else. Thanks again to Coral and Tom for their promotion of a very special event. Digger |
